Gus with Emma, His New Friend! January 1, 2005

Dear Cindy,

This is not my success story, but BRLA's and a wonderful rescued senior called Gus (aka Angus during his long stay at BRLA).

Gus was adopted in September by my grandchildren's family. They visited BRLA with the intent of adopting a youngster that could stand up to the rough and tumble play of three boys, yet be sweet and gentle with their little sister, while serving as a companion to Thelma, their five year old Boxer girl.

A BRLA volunteer suggested that the family just take a look at Gus. Gus immediately attached himself to my oldest grandson, 14 year old Matthew. When other dogs were presented for consideration, Gus let it be known that he had decided this was HIS family, others need no apply.

Gus and Thelma did well together and the already strong immediate bond with the family was already evident. Gus left with his new family to finally enjoy a forever home of his own.

I met Gus for the first time during my holiday visit. What a wonderful dog! He has such an even happy temperment. This seven year old has no idea he isn't a puppy, full of fun and play. He fashions himself a lap dog and who can resist him--he gets his way. He wrote the book on "SMART". He learns behaviors and tricks within a matter of minutes. He is athletic, with grace and beauty in his movements.

How wonderful to see how this boy fits his new family, the love that he gives, and the love that he gets. How sad to think that had it not been for BRLA, this happy ending would not have been.

Thank you and all those that care.

p.s. The child in the picture with Gus is six year old Emma. Emma was terrified of dogs a year ago. With patience and work she overcame her fear and now can often be found with her arms around a Boxer.

Aero with his happy new family, the Smiths! January 12, 2005

BABR,

The one thing that was missing in our life was the pitter-patter of little feet. After careful research on line and a few good books we decided on a boxer. While on Vacation in Vermont we came across this web site.

There was one dog that caught our eye. So we e-mailed Cindy. She e-mailed us back the day we got home from our trip, suggested we take another look at the site. There were now 3 dogs we liked. So we got in the car and off to BABR.

Cindy had all 3 dogs waiting for us. Our first choice was young and energetic and eager to please. But the second was so special we couldn't look at the third. The amazing thing is that he was the dog Cindy picked for us.

Of course we re-named him, Aero. We have so much in common with each other. Being couch potatoes, or just people watching out the window, taking rides in the car or truck, or long walks checking out the new neighbors. He even snores like his dad (Lenny) He is such a people person (dog). Everywhere we go he gets lots of attention.

Cindy, every time I go to log off my computer I always check your web site, it does my heart good knowing there are people out their that have dedicated their lives and homes to such a worthwhile reason.

I often look at all the dogs that you have saved, and I am amazed what a difference one person can make in so many lives.

Aero is working on his socializing skills and when he is ready we will be calling. Thank you again for TAG ID #1642 (Cordell). He is the perfect addition to our family, and he is so spoiled. And so loved.

Thank you,

Lenny, Nancy and Aero Smith
