Dear Cindy from BABR,
Thank you so much for helping us in so many ways to finally find the right dog. Whisper is such a sweet guy and fits in our family so easily. Everybody who meets him falls in love with him. You might remember that - before we met you - we had a very unhappy experience with a dog that we wanted to adopt. We have an energetic and oftentimes wild child and it obviously takes a special dog to take this on. After this scary experience we were unclear for a while if to adopt another dog at all. But my son so much wanted a companion since he is our only child and felt oftentimes lonely.
I learned from you that Boxers in general are great family dogs and are mostly good with children depending on their past. I was still a bit skeptical in the beginning and you allowed me to get to know the breed through direct personal first hand experience by volunteering. Each day I was able to volunteer, I would take one of the boxers for the afternoon. Taking them home, out for walks, etc., perfecting their social skills in preparation for adoption.
I will never forget Goliath, who was such a gentle soul, or Ozzy who was so alert and curious. You let me take them out and I learnt so much from you. But most important - we gained back trust, which was not easy after the kid had been bitten by the other dog - thanks to you, your understanding, help, impressive knowledge and of course thanks to the Boxers! Then I met 'Mister Whisper' - a truly gentle man. It was love on first sight, I started walking him and after you confirmed that he would be a fit for us we took him home. First I had to sneak him in since my husband was not so willing to take on another dog. But Whisper convinced him with his gentleness, intelligence and good character. He even adapted to the cats (I mean the dog . . . :-). Happy End after all!
I very much hope that you can go on with your important work that saves the lives of so many of these wonderful dogs. The idea that you could not go on pains me for many reasons - I cannot imagine anybody doing this work better than you do and it is so rewarding because you create Happy Ends Cindy!
All my best wishes go out for you, BABR and the of course all these poor dumped Boxers who need your help so much!
Warmly - yours Doro, Ani (a very happy six year old) and 'Mister Whisper Knisper Wiggly Butt'

Dear Cindy,
You may have wondered whatever happened to 'Derik', Tag #1261, since we picked him up on St. Patrick'sDay. Well, he is now 'Bodi', and a most welcome addition to our family. Bodi is sweet, well-mannered,calm and extremely cute! Usually, we'll get stopped a few times during walks so that people can admire him and fawn all over him (he eats that stuff up, the ham). Our four year old daughter has found her new best friend ... frequently the two of them are cuddled up on his dog bed together. The picture is of them playing bubbles in the yard. He can play very rough when we instigate it, but it's amazing how he instinctively knows to tone it down around the children!
Bodi is such a polite dog, it's hard to believe that he was ever in a shelter. He is completely housetrained, and although he WANTS to sleep on the couch, he is a good boy about staying down. We are thrilled with our Bodi! Here he comes through the dog door now ... I know he loves us as much as we love him. (He also loves to take a huge drink of water and then put his streaming muzzle on my leg!!!) Thank you, Cindy, for allowing us to take Bodi home.
Sincerely,
The Smith Family in Sonoma

Dear Cindy:
Well, I feel the need to provide a testimonial for the great job you do at Bay Area Boxer Rescue. We adopted Emily in September of 2001. She came to us from Los Angeles after just having a litter, was only 54 lbs and bit shy. Well, today she weighs in at 74 lbs, sleeps with my two girls who adore her, and visa versa, and is a true member of the family. To know Emily is to love her. I grew up with labs, but now I am a Boxer convert. I have never loved a dog so much, nor felt so much love and appreciation from a dog until we got Emily. She has had a few health problems, but we have gotten over them and look forward (hopefully) to many years with her in our lives. Thank you once again for providing a wonderful resource for people who want a Boxer. You know how to read dogs and gave us exactly what we were looking for, and our family will be your faithful promoters. I wish I had room for 5 more!

Hi Cindy,
I just wanted to give you an update on Trooper and to tell you this is our one year anniversary. I adopted him one year ago today. He is everything I wanted and more. He is a licensed therapy dog and now brings joy to older people and young children alike. I hope this will be one of many anniverserys to come. This is also a message to anyone thinking about a Boxer. With a little love and caring and the right training, any Boxer is a good Boxer no matter what their history is or where they came from. I am a living example. Thanks Cindy for all the hard work you do.

Dear Bay Area Boxer Rescue,
First of all wanted to give you my new address. Please do not post the address, but I can be contacted by potential adopters.I wanted to thank you for all that you do as a organization. I adopted Cammie (tag #1031) in April of 2002. She is now called Cammie Sue and is just wonderful. She has changed my life. She has learned to get along with my male cat and is such a lover. She has actually converted my boyfriend (who has never had pets) into a true Boxer lover. She is a wonderful companion - snuggles, tries to lick a face whenever she can, is alert and protective and loves to 'box' or wrestle with her toys - has quite the sense of humor. She is still a bit nervous and anxious around other dogs, still better off leash, but is coming around. Still have some time to make up for her two prior years of bad dog experience. She is healthy and I also get frequent compliments on what a beautiful dog she is - they can't believe she is a rescue dog. I recommend the supplement Missing Link - it has made her coat and skin glow.
She is a joy and I recommend adopting a Boxer from this wonderful organization. I have a co-worker who is looking into adopting one this coming summer. Thank you for the valuable work you all do. I also donated during your holiday season in my father's name (the one who introduced me to Boxers) - it is quite a good way to donate money and celebrate a holiday with a fellow Boxer-lover. If I have the room in the future, I hope to adopt another or to serve as a foster parent to these wonderful creatures.
Thank you,
Carey Edmeades
