Hi Cindy,
Just wanted to give you an update on Bud #1159 adopted September 8, 2002. He is doing wonderful. His fear of strangers has gotten much better although he still does not like large unknown men coming into the house - he goes and hides on his bed, but he will let out a low growl and a few deep barks before running up the stairs with his tail between his legs. lol. He loves going out on walks and he is very brave and friendly outside. He also likes going to visit my parents and some of our friends that have dogs. He gets along great with any animal that will play nicely with him. I had to send you this picture my dad took of him wearing Reindeer antlers. Bud seemed to be mortified that we would put these things on his head, - his _expression seems to say "I can't believe you not only put these stupid things on my head but now your going to take a picture..." he was a good sport for a minute or two before he flipped them off. Thanks agian for the work you do. Bud is a wonderful dog and we are happy to have him.

Thank you BABR! We adopted Reno, a 1 year old male-fawn colored boxer from you about 2 months ago, and renamed him HARLEY!
Harley, is doing awesome! We love him dearly and he seems to love us as well. Aside from a couple days of adjustment into our home (actually it was moreso our little old-male Pikanese who needed adjusting) things are going great! Once in a great while we come home to a bit of a mess in the home from something Harley was having fun tearing up, but usually that’s something the kids left out on the floor. Otherwise, he is a very obedient dog!
He’s loves to play with my children, our little old dog, and go on walks with us. We look forward to having a fun time with Harley in 2003 and the years to come! Thank you again, for allowing us to have Harley join our family and bring all the joy that he does.

Dear Cindy,
Thank you so much for bringing the most wonderful dog into our lives! We adopted #1141 (Levi) which we renamed Jerry. I can't tell you how special he is to us. We were worried when we first brought him home because you warned us that he might be dominant/alpha personality. He's very protective over us yet, at the same time he's a big mushy love bug! Jerry was easy to train and was potty trained within a week of being him home. Boxers are a wonderful, smart breed and we would highly recommend them to anyone willing to exercise and cuddle with these love bugs! We really appreciate you kindness and hard work on finding the right dogs for the right homes. Thank you Cindy and BABR!
Kind Regards,
Christina, Sean and Jerry

Dear Cindy,
I just wanted to give you an update on Lucy (tag # 1185). She is the most loving dog and I cannot thank you enough for making a perfect match. She loves walking to the nearby park and I am often stopped on the streets with people and children wanting to pet her. They always say the same thing - "You have a beautiful dog and she is so calm and friendly." A lot of people are surprised that I rescued her.
She just graduated from Basic Obedience although she was not in dire need of it. I just needed to establish myself as the Alpha and it has been working out well. We still have a bit to go in terms of dog-to-dog socialization but for the most part, she has been a joy to have. She knows her new name Lucy by heart and comes as soon as she hears it called. All my friends and relatives fell in love with her instantly as she also shows them the love she shows me. She loves the attention that people give her and I can't blame her. Lucy is the calmest dog I've ever had and she absolutely loves people, especially children. I just wish she loved dogs as much as humans but we're working on it. She loves to hang out but can also be very playful if I initiate it.
My life has definitely changed since I adopted her on October 12, 2002 but it has enriched my life more than I can ever imagine. It is wonderful to make a commitment to care for a creature that would love you back unconditionally. I look forward to coming home and playing with her each day.
Thank you very much for everything and for all the advice and information on how to care for her well.

Dear Cindy,
Just a thank you for introducing us to Zena Tag No 1180. It has only been two days since we adopted her but I can say that Zena has already won over our hearts and is becoming what I call spoiled! Of course I mean that in a very loving way. I called to leave a message on the answering machine this past Sunday but got so "choked" up I couldnt talk! Mainly because my son Kyle is a totally changed teen ager since Saturday afternoon when Zena became part of our family!
You see Kyle, my 15 year old son, has been to hell and back during the past 4 years. He had become so angry and so negative because of the nasty divorce betwen his father and myself. We moved to a bigger city and school not too mention not having his 3 brothers and sister around all the time, it was a terrible experience when we had to let "Gidget", Kyle's Brittany Spaniel, have a new home. Kyle was devastated! So when his best friend Nick acquired a Boxer through an organization such as yours in Las Vegas, NV, well that was when the "Mom can we get another dog?" conversations started.
My first reaction was NO. No more dogs, I will be the one cleaning up after it, etc. etc. BUT I have to admit, my feelings changed when I met Nick's Sadie! She was so good natured and so good with kids! After a few months of Kyle, working on me, I finally said yes and our search began! That is when we found your website and found Zena!
So the next step was convincing my fiance that even though we have lots of toddlers around here during the week and we do have indoor cats...that we would be able to provide a great home to a dog in need of just that. Michael had lost his 'best friend' Zack to his ex wife several years ago, so I think his heart was still breaking abit...BUT that was until he met Zena on Saturday October 19th, 2002! I asked Mike if he would grow to love Zena as much as Kyle and I had already...and he said...She definitely is making a spot in my heart!
When I explained to you that I ran an in home day care, that didnt throw you off or make you come back with a resounding NO we dont have anything available. You responded to my questions and helped us in finding our new family pet.
To make a long story short ... Thank you Cindy for allowing us the opportunity to provide Zena with a great home......She is more than we could have ever hoped for! I would never have dreamed that a sweet Boxer named Zena could bring such peace and tranquility to our lives AND help bring our Kyle back to the kid he used to be! Again thank you so much!!!!

Dear Cindy,
After doing some research my husband and I decided we wanted to bring a new member into our family. A boxer. We were absolutely certain we wanted a rescue dog. We did some research on line and found your website.
We knew we wanted a female dog and you said you had 5 dogs available at the time, 4 males and one female - Lila. We were suprised (and a little disappointed) when we arrived to find out that Lila was a white boxer. We had our hearts set on either a brindle or fawn. However, upon meeting Lila, we fell in love instantly.
Lila was extremely well behaved and very affectionate. We played with her for about 45 minutes and by then our minds were made up - we wanted her.
She has been with us for a month and is a JOY. She listens to our commands, stays in her crate without whining and has nothing but unconditional love for us - and we feel the same way. This is my first time being a dog owner and I feel extrememly lucky that Lila came into our lives.
Thank you again for all of the information and instructions on how to care for Lila.

My husband and I would love to thank you for bringing Shadow tag#892 into your lives. She has turned out to be the most wonderful dog. She greets us when we come home with a smile and a wagging tail and has just been a ray of sunshine to our lives. She is definitely a big part of our family. Shadow loves to give kisses and loves to be the center of attention. She gets jealous of the other little boy puppy at home but also acts like a mother to him also. Thanks BABR for our boxer.
Thanks,
Amber and Dave Bartley

Dear BABR,
My fiance and I cannot express how thankful we are for the work that you do. We adopted Jackson about 2 months ago and we absolutely love him!!! He is the most lovable puppy ever. When we first got him Cindy had concern about his weight, but since then he has gone from being a little chubby, to being a gorgeous boxer. He was just big for his age. He is now 10 months old and the most beautiful dog on our block. He is great with children, and very protective over me. Those of you who work with BABR are truly angels! Not only because of your compassion for animals, but also you provide so much happiness to the people who adopt your dogs.
Thank you!!!!

Cindy/BABR,
We adopted Tag ID #1144 two days ago and we couldn't be more happy if we tried...the whole house has becalmed due to her magic, and though I didn't think a puppy would ease my loss of Ziggy (the wonder boxer/rescued 8 years ago) your organization has truly, thankfully filled a wide/high hole in our family persona...thank you so VERY VERY much...
love and magic always, ms monica

Dear Bay Area Boxer Rescue,
My daughter and I adopted tag number 1082 and 1086. We want to thank you very much. We have been enjoying these two great dogs. We have changed their names to ones that match them better. Lady (1082) is now Brandi and she is a lovely well trained animal, although she does not like other dogs, other than her boxer buddy. She has adopted a homeless kitten and is always cleaning her and trying to nurse. Tag 1086 is now Duke and he fits his name really well, he acts like he is royalty. He is very protective of my four year old son and is very loving. He had kennel cough when we got him, but he has improved quite nicely. I have included a couple of pictures of the dogs and me.

Hey Cindy,
I finally got some pictures Trooper developed. I want to thank you and Tim and all the people that helped him recover from his injuries. He is exactly what I was looking for in a dog.
He even lets the cats use him as a pillow! His temperment is great and he gets along with almost everybody which is shocking considering what he went thru. I hope I can give back as much as he gives me and I hope I can give him all the love he so richly deserves.
Thanks,
Brian & Trooper

Hi Cindy,
My beloved boxer, Picaso, had passed away Christmas Eve and there was a big hole in my heart. Living mostly alone here in the mountains I felt a bit uneasy without a dog around. I was delighted to find Bay Area Boxer Rescue and you. When I saw Simbah tag 1080 (whom I now call Simie) I felt that we needed each other.
She has half an acre to romp on and is fulfilling her duties of alerting me when someone comes on the property. She loves chasing lizards and birds. It took only one day for her to learn her boundaries within the electric fence. The picture of her laying on the grass was taken the day she arrived. She has toys she likes to play with, and one chair in my studio she is permitted on and shares when we watch TV. Lil Gal, my cat, has no patience with the newcomer. Simie is not pleased to share me with her either. Simie is definitely no good at helping arrange flowers. She gets a kid fix when we visit with my grandson and two great-grandchildren who live nearby.
She is adapting well to her new home and thanks to you and Boxer Rescue, Simie and I found each other.

Buster has been such a huge asset to our family!! He provides and receives hours of love and entertainment. He is perfect with all three boys (ages 1,3,5). We couldn't have chosen a better family companion had we created him ourselves. He is very smart and affectionate!!

Hi BABR,
After having no success trying to adopt a boxer from my local boxer rescue for 4 months, I decided to call B.A.B.R just to pick their brain about how rescue works to see what I was doing wrong. I was very surprised when Cindy returned my phone call with in 2 hours!!!(not 2 months!!) She and I talked for a while about the type of dog I wanted for my family and after about 45 minutes, I realized that she really knew what she was doing with her dogs compaired to the hap-hazard way the rescue I was trying to deal with handled things!
She told me that I needed to be VERY sure of the basic dominant/submissive personality of the dog since it would be coming into a home with 2 small children and a 10 year old Dobi. Just for fun I asked her if she knew of a dog that would be a good fit for us and she said "no", but she would keep her eyes open. Not even thinking that she would ship to us out of state (in WA.) nor wanting to adopt from that far away I said " sure ". Right then she said "LUCKY! Lucky would be perfect for you!" He was so quiet and mellow she had over-looked him. I talked with her for another couple of hours and picked her brain, she actually offered to help me pick a dog from the rescue up here!! I started to think that I would trust her more to pick my dog FOR me than to trust my judgement combined with this rescue. My husband and I discussed the financial part of it and needless to say he was not thrilled, but he knew it was very important to not bring in a dog that no one knew much about and he had also been impressed with Cindy. I called her back the next day and she talked to my husband about Lucky, she told him what she told me, that he was a "no-brainer". He told me that if I just HAD to have this dog that I could get him.
I called Cindy the next day and asked when we could do it (thinking the next week) and she said "how about tomorrow?".
That was that and the next morning I set up his flight and Cindy was on the run, trying to get all her details done to get him to the airport in time. We spent the whole day on the phone and hung up when she left for the airport.
She had left the airport with Lucky loaded on the plane and I recieved a phone call from the airline:" Uh mam, we are having a little bit of a problem with your dog. He seems to have chewed through the wire on his crate and we can't get him out". I called Cindy and told her to go back to the airport. I heard nothing for 3 hours and my mind was wandering. Is he a beast that eats wire and can't be removed from the crate? Is he dead, bleeding to death? I don't think I want this beast. I call the airline and ask if she picked him up and if he was still alive and he tells me the dog is in the air on his way here! OH CRAP! I don't want Kujo in my house!
Cindy calls me abuot 20 minutes later and said "the stupid dog went ape and ate his way through the crate, but he's sedated now and he's fine. Just a little cut or two in his mouth but I wiped it off. I asked " is he crazy? Whats wrong with him?" she told me he just got scared and he was fine now, not to worry. HA! I was scared out of my mind and wondering what I had gotten myself into. What was I supposed to do with this wild beast when he landed?
We figured we better at least get him out of the airport, then figure out what in the heck to do with him. We got to the airport and paid our money then the lady led me out to the dock and pointed to the crate and said "there ya go". Now what do I do? I'm scared to death of this thing. There was no sound or movement coming from the crate and I wondered if he was dead. I HAD to lift the blanket and look, but half expected this crazed animal to lunge at me. I picked it up, ready to wet my pants (good thing no one walked up behind me!) and saw this pitiful little creature laying there quietly with his lips stuck against the door.
We got him home and still leary of letting him out, we got the kids in the house and shut the door and let him out of the crate. He stood up slowly and staggered over to the tree and peed for what seemed like 5 minutes straight! After that he came and leaned on my leg and sat down. Well, I guess he's NOT Kujo!
A few days later when he had settled in Cindy decided to send me the pictures of the crate. I'm so glad she waited till we got to know him!! Holy cow! If I would have seen those before we picked him up I would have marked him " return to sender!"
We have now had Ice Man (Lucky) for almost 2 months and he is our sweet boy, just like Cindy said! We would'nt trade him for the world. He is fabulous with my toddler and infant and is even becoming protective of "his family".
Cindy has continued to be there to answer questions about his seperation anxiety (the reason for the'crate escape', and I can say that I don't know of anyone I would trust to pick a dog for us other than her! Thank you Cindy!!!!
Thanks again
Kari and Ice Man and family!

Dear Cindy,
Simon is a wonderful addition to our family. We had concerns about his unknown past and how he would adjust to the family, however he is adorable and loves the kids.
Simon would also like to thank you for rescuing him and thanks his foster family too.

Hi Cindy,
This is Bowsers family tag # 815 I don't know if you remember me or not. We drove from Hollister one late evening in May to pick him up after falling in love with him the very first time we seen him on your web site. And on the way home we had our hands full he through up and did poopoo all over my truck, But we got past that and ever since then he has been a big part of our family. This past year THANKS to Cindy, has been great My 2 kids have a new best friend that they can't wait to get up in the morning to greet and the feelling is mutual I'm sure.
I'd have to say that when it comes to family outings Bowser is right in the middle of it he always has to be the center of attention. So far since we have had him we have been camping fishing T-Ball games dance class it doesn't matter what it is he is such a good sport, but behind closed doors he is a big baby meaning he literally sucked a binky until he was 8 months old. Well Cindy just wanted to say thanks again for bringing this sweet boy into our lives we love him so much I'm also sending a few pics.
Thanks Gonzales Family

Hi Cindy,
Thought you might enjoy a few pictures of Boris. After only 2-1/2 weeks of good meals he has filled out nicely and grown. He gets LOTS of excercise and fresh air and plays all day with our old Jasper. Jasper's health has turned around ever since Boris arrived and he plays now like a 5 yr. old. We know he's terminal, but he'll probably keep on goin' for awhile by the looks of things now. Boris is a total lover-boy and has loads of personality. He is outrageously happy and so are we. Just thought you'd like to know that we appreciate what you're doing by giving these boxers a good home.

Hi Cindy,
Just wanted to let you know the follow-up on China. She is doing wonderful! She is the best friend I have ever had! She has not been one bit of trouble. She hasn't made one mess, and is so clean and quiet. I haven't even heard her bark! I can't tell you how much I love her! Thank you for finding her for me!

Hi Cindy,
Just another quick update on Jasmin, she just finished basic obedience class and I'm proud to say out of the 5 command compitition they held she took Three, 1st place's quickist sit, longest sit stay, best come, One, 2nd place quickest down, and One 3rd place longest down stay. And most important "Most Improved Dog" not bad for a "Rescue Dog". Personally I think she was through some of it before and she was just sandbaggin. I proud of her so I have to brag a little.
Thanks again

Hi Cindy,
Thank you for leading Bae-lei & Valentino home. They fill our hearts with so much joy and happiness that we couldn't imagine a single day without them. Bae joined us in 9/01 at 6 mos. old. She was emaciated at 25 lbs. from starvation & giardia with rope burns around her tiny neck. Only with the support of BABR, were we able to provide Bae with proper care & medication. She is now a beautiful & healthy 56 lbs. Our journey's changed course in Nov. when Bae began to have separation anxiety when dad would leave for work. She decided to dig & chew & graduated to breaking in the back door to get in the house (to make her loneliness apparent). We had 2 options. Doggy therapy or a boyfriend! I convinced her dad to consider a boyfriend for Bae, which resulted in dog "A" - a 10 mo. old boxer AmStaff. The trial run worked as well as a bull in a china shop and reconfirmed dad's commitment to NO MORE DOGS in the Caprino clan - EVER! So it was off to the puppy psych. Then amazingly, 5 days before Christmas, while checking out the new kids on the BABR site, I was totally taken back. PERFECTO! (2.5 yrs, gentle, good with kids, flashy brindle, 75 lbs - or so the photo showed & a boy!) - I MUST adopt this dog! Maybe I could sneak him in? Nah! I must BEG! So, I called Cindy. "He's put on some weight", she said, "but he is a great dog!" Dec. 20 & 21 consisted of my begging while Cindy confirmed that Bae would do better with a boyfriend. Kenny finally agreed to see Val. We arrived on 12/22, Bae happily in toe & were stunned when from Cindy's back yard emerged what resembled a brindle potbelly pig??? Valentino was FAT as a zeppelin with a head the size of a pea in relation to his 98 lb body. He could hardly breathe & slobbered like a St. Bernard. Yet, one look into those huge dreamy brown eyes, and I fell in love. He was the sweetest boy I had ever seen. He gently jumped up to my chest and licked me - thus staking his claim. Within 20 min he was a Caprino. Val delighted us by opening his & Bae's presents himself on Christmas morning. Incredibly he's lost 12 lbs with prescribed diet & exercise, the lil stud! Bae is in puppy paradise and Val loves her to pieces. She even sleeps on a floor cushion next to her boyfriend (yes, we have our bed back!). As for the man who said NO MORE DOGS? Aww, forget that! Daddy loves our boy. Thank you Cindy & BABR.

Hi Cindy,
When I knew I wanted another boxer I went to the web, and Bay Area Boxer Rescue of course! I saw her looking up at me on the web, and knew my journey had begun. After picking her up I was full of hope that we would be a match. I would like to think she was relieved her adventures were over as she snored the whole way home. The last two years have been great and filled with laughter. She is a delight, so willing to please, and so anxious to romp and be the clown! She really got going on that wheelbarrow tire! I feel so grateful to have connected with BABR. Thank you!

Hi Cindy,
This is a picture of my two boxers with my niece, Johanna (in the middle). The guy with the left, the one with the big ears is Buster. I acquired him in Sept. 1990 while living in Seattle. He was 6 weeks and three days old. He had been away from his mommy for only three days. He is all Boxer - happy, friendly, loving, protective and yes, full of flatulence. He will take all the love and attention you care to give him. He has always been a joy to be around. He doesn't play much anymore but he enjoys his daily 1 ½ mile walk. Generally, he is in good health. The little one on the left is Alia. With the help of Cindy at Bay Area Boxer Rescue and Ursula at the Los Angeles Boxer Rescue, we were able to have her delivered to Cindy on Friday, December 14, 2001. A scant 12 hours later, she was mine. It was pretty obvious from the start that she had been neglected but not abused. From her habits around food, one could safely assume that she hadn't known when or if she would get a next meal. She has no obedience training and is not really housebroken. That's all changing. She's put on about seven pounds and is slightly more than 50 lbs. The housebreaking is not complete but I am hopeful that the area rugs can be put down in another week. We're working on the obedience training with basic commands like sit, lie down, stay and wait. It's not going to come overnight but she is no dummy. She is my third Boxer. I got her to keep Buster company and to help me when he goes. She is totally Boxer. Sweet, loving, affectionate and of course, stubborn and pigheaded. She laps up all the attention she can get (and she gets plenty of it). She follows me everywhere I go, in the house or outside. She won't sleep in the family room with Buster. She insists on being in my room. But that's ok. The only problem is that she snores really loud. Thank you Cindy and Ursula for bringing Alia into Buster's life and mine.

Hi Cindy,
China is doing great!! She has not been one problem. She stays home all day, with access to the backyard, and doesn't do one bit of destruction. She is so happy when I come home!! I can hardly get out of the car!! She loves the cat! The Cat is the dominant personality, so that works well. As long as the Cat doesn't run, all is well. China eats well, drinks gallons of water and loves to sleep. She curls up with me all night. Every where I go, so does she. I took her to work and introduced her to my co-workers, they all love her. She is a wonderful pet! I can't imagine life without her now. In fact I just had a co-worker say that someone wants to give away a male Boxer that is 6 years old. They would love for me to take him, what do you think? I gave them the e-mail address of BABR and I hope they use it. I am totally happy with China, but I am also wondering if she would love to have a partner to romp with, especially when I am at work. What do you think? I am so happy with China, thank you for introducing us!
