Bay Area Boxer Rescue Adoption Guidelines
BABR carefully screens each potential home to find the right family for each of our Boxers.
They all have different personalities, traits and needs, and we must carefully screen to make sure that the home they go to can meet their needs, will be a good personality match and has high potential as a permanent home for the Boxer.
If you've adopted from us before please click directly to the Adoption Form.
The following are our adoption guidelines:
- We will conduct a telephone interview, which will include many questions about your family, your lifestyle and your home. We will also ask you questions to be sure you understand your responsibilities and will be able to deal with any special needs the dog may have.
- If you rent, please bring a written approval from your landlord, including your landlord's name, address and phone number.
- You will also be required to read and sign an adoption agreement with BABR. BABR reserves the right to conduct an inspection of the residence where said dog is to be kept.
- If necessary, you may be required to attend obedience training by an approved trainer or training club. You will need to complete the obedience training/class within the specified date on the obedience contract. Proof of completion is to be mailed to BABR within a specified time period. BABR reserves the right to remove said dog from your possession for failure to comply with the obedience contract.
- If a dog cannot be altered (this determined by a licensed veterinarian) prior to adoption, you will be required to sign a sterilization contract. A date determined by BABR or a licensed veterinarian to have said dog altered will be given. Proof of spay/neuter to be sent to BABR by a specified date. BABR reserves the right to remove said dog for failure to comply with the sterilization contract.
While these guidelines may seem a bit strict, we assure you we have found them to be neccessary in finding an exact match for each of our Boxers. We love each and every one, and not only want them to be happy, loved and well-cared for in their new home, but also wish the new family to be comfortable and pleased with their new family member.
Therefore, we feel that all of these guidelines must be followed to ensure that the homes we find for our Boxers will be permanent homes, where they will become an integral part of a loving household.
